Junky plasticJul 29, 2010 Not exactly the army men I had growing up. I recall them being made a little better. My goodness, how do you make cheap plastic? Must take a real engineer.
This stuff is fairly brittle, breaks, guns come off etc. But what is really disappointing is that the characters molds lack detail. It seems many of them were over filled with plastic so they lost some cripness, and have extra plastic oozing out at places. One other downside, is that there are not that many different types of molds/men. I recall several different ones as a kid, I think this pack has 5 different types, maybe 6 at most. INTERESTING: I just looked at the official image, and they represent the men I had as a kid. Now look at the pic posted by a customer--this is what these men actually look like. You will see that there are just a few kinds, and the molds have oozed a bit.
What happened to the guy crawling? The flame thrower? :)
Guess they just don't make things like they used too. Not even plastic junk.
That said, my kids LOVE EM!!!
Play non-stop with them and want more. Set up battles on the floor, in the kitchen, the hall, the living room, the backyard sandbox, and this week on the sand castles at the beach.
I wonder if 30 years from now they will think the ones they buy for their kids are even worse?

144 is One GrossFeb 02, 2007 There are 144 units per One Gross. In this case there are 144 soldiers. They a really neat. My nephew likes toy soldiers and these guys may just do the trick. They come in standard green issue just like when I was a kid. And they are in various positions. A good choice if this is what you are looking for in the way of toys.

Lots of Army MenJan 10, 2007 If you are looking for lots of army men in many different positions, then this is the item you want. They are exactly like the ones we used to play with in the 70's. My son loves them.
