Get one that uses real marbles & better build qualityAug 20, 2010 The ramps are VERY flimsy/floppy, and the riser bits range from very loose to very tight. My kids often get frustrated because not all of them are the same length! If you lose any of the little plastic marbles included you're done, since real marbles will not fit. If I'd bought it at a physical store I would have taken it back.
Great funJun 30, 2010 Wanted to let everyone know 1st of all, this Deluxe version is available at TRU for $19.99! Amazon should be ashamed for allowing prices to be so steep sometimes! Anyhow, the toy is fun and very good for thinking. My 2 and 4 year olds actually play together with this and the fighting is brought down to a minimum. I agree with other folks that its a bit unstable if you try to get as creative as the box cover; the plastic doesn't fit snuggly together. But all in all, there are a million worse toys for a lot more money.
Great quality timeMay 28, 2010 My four year old daughter loves this toy. We spent quite a while the first two times we tried it just figuring out how to put it together. Once it was set up we spent about half an hour playing with it. It's confusing to put together but worth it in the end.
Great Fun!Apr 19, 2010 We were interested in the fancy wooden marble runs, but decided against the cost. We finally decided on the Imaginarium product for good reviews and affordability. It hasn't disappointed us yet! My 4 yr old needs help with assembly. My 6 yr old is a wiz at assembling runs with or without the instructions. Both kids love watching the marbles go down the tracks and figuring out which base the marbles will land in. Races are popular too. Included are 20 plastic marbles which work great, and we've found glass marbles which also fit the track. Stands well on our shaggy carpet, or tile floor. Of course when we build a very tall run on a small foundation, it gets tippy, but that's just physics. I would highly recommend this toy.
Won't work with REAL marblesApr 03, 2010 I need to reiterate what another reviewer said about this set not working with real marbles. Some reviewers have stated correctly that the plastic marbles it comes with are cheap and sometimes get hung up. They then say how they will be getting real marbles, but never report back that real marbles won't work in this toy. The plastic marbles are smaller, and the larger real marbles won't fit. Why would anyone design a "marble race" like that?
There are also two different sizes for many of the pieces. This makes it confusing for my children (ages 2 and 5), who try to force things together. They often need help to make something stable that operates well.
For the price on here, go with a better set! We got ours as a present, and it was purchased for much less. I suppose it was worth what they paid for it (at a big chain store others have mentioned), but definitely not more.
